Mission’s Budget Support Areas

New Covenant Ministries (Greg Allen): New Covenant Ministries is a mission based on the “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:19-20). In 2002 over 100 individuals accepted Christ as Savior. Over 700 committed to discipleship walk, and over 800 persons asked God to heal their broken hearts at Christian concerts in the south, midwest and west. Please continue to pray for this work.

Cornerstone Ministries in Jamaica: Doug and Lorna Kessner began Cornerstone Ministries over 18 years ago. Their mission is to not only vocationally educate the Jamaican so that he or she can support themselves and their families, but more importantly, help them come to a relationship with our Lord. Their work began with the manufacturing community and later expanded into the prisons in Kingston. More recently it has extended into the outlying communities where they have set up trade schools. Cornerstone is recognized by the Jamaican government and has been invited to continue with their programs in prisons and now a detention center for younger offenders. Study of scripture is an integral part of, and required in all of Cornerstones programs. Cornerstone is operated entirely on donations from various churches and individuals.

Vision of Light Ministry:
After four years of ministering in the Belgorod region of Russia, I am overjoyed to see fruits from encouraging those in our churches to step out in faith and share the gospel. On this trip three members in the churches, testified to me, the power of the Spirit, guiding them with the words and love to reach out to others in their neighborhood. It’s thrilling to see our four churches growing and three new plants in the works. Also, two new pastors are joining with us in the effort to evangelize southern Russia. I praise God for Julia, a member of our English Club in March 2003. After giving her life to the Lord, she began to seek His heart. Weekly she attends every Bible study and church service, even though the rest of her family is atheist. Though moving to Moscow next week, to further her studies as a lawyer, she has already located a sister church in which to fellowship.

Youth with a Mission (YWAM):
YWAM is an international missions movement of Christians working to fulfill a two-fold call that was called upon them in the beginning of their movement. Founded in 1960, it is now one of the largest interdenominational and international Christian ministries, with nearly 16,000 staff worldwide, working in over 1,000 different locations in over 149 countries. In addition to those numbers, there are tens of thousands more people from different nations around the world who participate in short-term opportunities provided by YWAM workers. Coming from many different backgrounds, cultures and languages, they are united under one common goal: "To know God, and make Him known". Their mission is a two-fold mission: To not only see people be filled up with the Holy Spirit, and come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, but to see them fulfilled physically, whether it be with food, shelters or finances. They are better known as evangelism and mercy ministries. YWAM is also a training school, sending out thousands of short-term workers to the nations every year. They have responded to the "Great Commission"—Jesus' command to His disciples to go into the entire world and tell the Good News. Many of our young people from TCCC have been involved at various levels in YWAM. Presently, Andrew and Tonya Nielson are serving in the Training Department at Colorado Springs, CO; Scot and Amber Warmoth are in Nepal, finishing their SOFM (School of Frontier Missions), where they will be for the next two years; and Wayne Hunt, whom is serving in the Kitchen at Colorado Springs, CO.

If you would like any information regarding YWAM, please feel free contact Wayne Hunt, at huntw@ywamsf.org , or go to the Colorado Springs website: www.ywamcolorado.org.

St. Vincent DePaul:
The Saint Vincent DePaul Society (SVDP) is an international Catholic organization of lay volunteers. Members through person-to-person involvement seek to help the poor, the needy and the suffering. Home visitors meet with those seeking assistance and help them develop action plans to alleviate the current need, while assisting them in planning for the future. Direct financial aid or other forms of assistance, such as food, clothing, furniture and transportation, including distribution of a donated automobile may be provided. Last year the SVDP conference at Transfiguration Catholic Church assisted approximately 525 families by distributing over $110,000 in direct financial assistance; 20 automobiles and numerous articles of furniture. Members also conduct periodic food drives and operate a food pantry at the church for the community. The Transfiguration SVDP conference also provides meals and overnight help at the local homeless shelter, sponsors parties for the elderly at nursing homes, conducts Life Skills classes that are open to anyone trying to better manage life’s challenges, distributes pizzas donated by Stevie B’s on a weekly basis to needy families in two very poor trailer parks, and sponsors families for holiday meals and Christmas gifts. The conference has few rules and tries to respond to whatever need is presented to it. All resources available to the society are donated and separate from church or any other organization’s budget. Our ability to serve is only limited by the time, talent and resources available to our members. “The poor forgive us for the charity we give them through the love we bring.” Frederic Ozanam, founder of the Saint Vincent DePaul Society, 1833.

Celebrate Life International (CLI):
A non-profit organization dedicated to student development by building character based on practical leadership skills and strong moral values. CLI delivers programs, materials and personnel that equip young people to build lives of integrity, stand strong in healthy habits, create positive relationships, and multiply their influence among their peers. CLI’s materials are based on Christian principles. These programs have three focuses to empower students, energize teachers and equip parents. They empower students to be leaders among their peers, family and community; to develop a healthy self-image and healthy relation-ships; to abstain from substances that are harmful; to get involved in community service and to make a decision to go into higher education. They equip teachers with tools to teach values and leadership skills and provide value based resources and curriculum relevant to their specific subject matter. Finally, they equip parents to partner with their teens; to communicate effectively with their teens; to lead by positive example, to recognize teachable moments and to create significant memories with their teens.

At present they have over 40 children to care for. One building is complete and they are now preparing to build another.

The Zamora Family in Chili:
As one of the oldest Church of God works in Chili, the Zamora family continues strong leadership in spreading the gospel and planting churches. Now into the second generation, we find Gerson, who has just finished Bible School in Peru, back in Chili where he is leading the youth work in his local congregation and active in several other church plants in the region. Eliezer, the younger son, is in Brazil at Bible School and in his last year of classes. The Zamora’s have expanded their home to make dormitories, so that bible students can meet to continue their studies as they prepare to spread the gospel. TCCC has a long-term support relationship with this family and desire to continue our support.

Steve & Cindy Shoop (Missionaries to Africa):
This Church of God couple from the Ansonia First Church of God in Ohio felt their call to the mission field in the 1980’s, and have since ministered in various capacities throughout Africa. They have ministered in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Swaziland, Namibia, Malawi and South Africa. Along with working as crusade directors for the Word of Life World Outreach, Steve has served as Bible teacher and Cindy as part of the music team with the Rhema Bible Training Centre n South Africa. The impact of their ministry has been instrumental in bringing literally thousands of people to Jesus Christ in Africa. They are presently starting a Bible training center in Zambia to train native Christian leaders for work in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making disciples of His followers.
